Camden Market: Oli Baba’s Halloumi Fries & more!

I spent the day in Camden yesterday and had such a good time that I thought I’d do a blog post about it. Sort of a day in the life style post with some top foodie recommendations thrown in for good measure! Keep reading if you want to hear about Oli Baba’s Halloumi Fries and Square Root Sodas!

Initially decided to go to Camden as I have some family down from up north at the moment and they really wanted to experience some new places and had heard Camden was a good spot. I was the unofficial tour guide as they know I’m always out and about so that was really fun haha.

I haven’t been to Camden in a while so I almost forgot how crowded it can be but on a Sunday with blazing hot weather? Absolute mayhem, which made it a bit frustrating to get around but still had a good time I’d say.

We started with the Halloumi Fries from Oli Baba’s as they’ve been so hyped up on social media and I missed out on having them at the Street Eats Festival so it was a must try. The fries come with yoghurt, chilli flakes, sumac, pomegranate seeds and coriander drizzled on top. I love cheese so I knew I’d love these to be honest and for me it was the perfect balance of flavours: cheesy, yoghurt-y and spicy, what’s not to love?

At £6 per portion, it’s pricy but it’s one of those dishes you won’t get anywhere else so I think it’s worth it on a day out and if you share. The line may be really long, so be prepared or alternatively, get there early and beat the crowds.

Next we decided to try the refreshing range of soda’s from Square Root. Due to the hot weather, this was the perfect way to cool down a little. There were a list of different flavours to choose from but we decided on the Mango, Pineapple and Lime soda as it was something different. Next time I definitely want to try the Nojito or Raspberry Lemonade though. At £3 for a regular cup, it’s pretty standard for London prices and it’s fresh, so all worth it!

Lastly, we tried the Triple Cooked Chips from The Grilling GreekI absolutely loved these and could probably have finished a whole portion by myself if I was really hungry. The fries are topped with oregano and feta, which is an optional add on. They were SO tasty and I’m definitely going to be a returning customer.

Hope you guys enjoyed this post and aren’t left too hungry! If you’re in London, I’d definitely recommend visiting Camden, even if it’s just for the food!

Until next time,

Rumaanah x
